My mother was Mike Rynne's niece she was raised by Mike and his sister after her parents were killed in a train accident. We had a large trophy case with all Mike's trophies and ribbons in it when I was growing up. The best story I heard alot was of Mike pulling a row boat swimming with 4 adult males in the boat. My brother was a police officer in Tewsbury retired about 2 years ago George Hazel. He could tell you more stories as he was older than I.

I have an article written by Elmer Rynne, Sr. published in the Lowell Sun in 1985, there are great pictures of Mike pulling the boat across the Merrimack, and of other stunts where his hands and feet were shackled and another with him tied to a chair. The article also talks of Mike racing in the Boston Light Swim and racing from Tyngsboro to Lowell. And it even references his dance skills. I would gladly send the photos to anyone who could publish them.

I have been looking for my copy of the longer article about Mike Rynne, My father, Elmer wrote a shorter piece, but I have seen one where it mentions mikes dancing prowess, swimming the Boston light swim and fighting the current, and racing from Boars head to the state beach at the Hampton River. He was a character. But a distant relative from what I know. If anyone has it email me at SMR8t1@gmail.com
